‘Hole in the Wall’ for Teenbridge teens

In February the Teen Bridge Project in Devon opened a brand new youth venue in Dawlish called the Hole in the Wall.  The Youth for Christ Centre are renting the building – formerly a pub – and have turned it into a professionally run non-alcoholic/ ‘dry pub’ youth venue.

Chislehurst youth give lives to Jesus

Chislehurst YFC have been working with around 30 boys ages between 13 and 17 on the Edgebury estate for the period of around 18 months.  Initially the contact was mainly through detached work but since the opening of the new youth centre called ‘the edge’ on the estate, the team have been working intensively with the young people.

Latest Sponsored BIKE RIDE UPDATES

At 3.30pm all 4 riders safely and with joyful song reached the end of their 2 week bike ride covering over 950 miles. Gavin Calver knelt to pray before they all paused to phone their loved ones. "It's amazing to have made it and we really hope that the money and interest raised through this venture will have a lasting impact on the young people of Britain", Gavin announced.

Sponsored Bike Ride to Annecy, France

3 cyclists from Cheltenham (pictured left to right, Paul Bennett, Director of Cheltenham YFC, Simon Padley and Adam Legge) are on their way to their link YFC Centre in Annecy, France.  They have raised over £14,000 and are due to complete the ride on Friday 22nd May.  To sponsor them go to www.justgiving.com/annecycycleride.

ECG - Inspiring a prophetic church to build a better world

This Easter a dynamic, innovative conference called ECG will inspire and empower people to transform their communities and build God's Kingdom.  The event held within Llandudno Conference Centre (Venue Cymru) from 14th - 19th April will include world-class speakers, a variety of worship encounters and opportunities to experience and be equipped to be a relevant and radical disciple of Jesus.

A Big Day for Volunteering with YFC

On March 28th Youth for Christ are holding their yfc one Big Day at the national headquarters in Halesowen from 11am – 4pm (Coombswood Way, Halesowen, West Midlands B62 8BH).  15-25 year olds interested in joining yfc one, family and friends, youth groups and churches are all invited to come to a fantastic day of fun, spiritual input and great opportunities to explore what YFC’s year out programme is all about.

New Schools Resources Website

We are delighted to announce that the YFC Schools Resources Website has been relaunched with a fresh new look – www.yfcschoolsresources.co.uk

 

The website exists to equip schools workers with professional and innovative lesson plans and assembly outlines, from a Christian perspective for use in schools with young people aged 7-18.

New National Director at Youth for Christ

Today Roy Crowne announced to staff that Gavin Calver would succeed him as YFC’s new National Director, taking up his new appointment on the 1st April 2009.

This an exciting time of change for everyone in YFC, both at a national and local level – where so much of our face-to-face youthwork takes place through the work of Local Centres.
