Antigua 2010An exciting trip is planned for working alongside the Youth for Christ team on the Caribbean island of Antigua. Come and join them! Called ‘the heart of the Caribbean’ the island has great natural beauty, a welcoming people and there is an enthusiastic youth ministry amongst the children and teenagers of the island. This amazing opportunity will give you the chance to get out of your comfort zone, meet some young people in St John’s and the surrounding area and give you the chance to share in their lives.

It will give you the chance to make new friends as well as sharing in worship and witness of Christians in another culture. There is nothing like an overseas trip to give you insight into the global church, getting involved in youth work, learning about key issues which affect young people overseas and meeting challenges to enable your own faith to grow and develop!

What will I be doing?

The team will experience various types of ministry which may include:

  • Visiting children’s homes
  • Working in holiday clubs, training young people in areas relative to your gifts
  • Involvement in sports activities
  • Prison ministry
  • Possibilities for those skilled in creative arts, music and/or puppetry!
  • Involvement in life-skills training
It won’t all be work and you will get the chance to enjoy the beautiful scenery and historical sites of the island!

Antigua 2010Zanna, one of the ‘09 team said: God has spoken to me massively during these couple of weeks…with God I can do whatever He asks of me! The highlights included teaching dance, visiting the prison and street pastoring and spending time with the young people in Antigua. Their incredible faith , spirit-led worship and friendly attitude is very inspiring!’

Edward, also on last year’s team, commented: ‘My faith has been strengthened and seeing God working in Antigua has made me really up for serving Him. I am really encouraged now to continue mission at home and at uni.. can’t wait!’

Jonathan Bynoe, National Director of Youth for Christ Antigua, will host the team. He has many years of experience working on the island and receiving volunteer teams and so will be overseeing the UK programme.

Who will I go with?

You will be joining a team of 6-8 people recruited nationally in the UK. There will be 2 leaders who have had experience of working in mission teams, including overseas.

Antigua 2010How much do I have to raise?
