Summer Trip to Moscow 2010
When? 4-17 July 2010 (subject to flight availability)
Where? Moscow, Russia
Price? £850 (includes:preparation w/end April 23-25 2010 in Rugby)
A unique opportunity to take part in a youth camp near Moscow, which has been taking place annually for the past seven years. It is organised by the Centre for Family and Youth ‘Sodeystvie’ (‘Assistance’), together with a team from several Moscow Churches and Moscow Youth for Christ.
Moscow YFC meet regularly with these churches and organisations in order to link the groups together with the common aim of reaching out to the young people of the area with many different ways of improving their lives. This camp is therefore a brilliant focus for the year in terms of bringing the children and young people together for a central event.
There are nearly 200 young people from both Christian and unchurched backgrounds, including children from an orphanage, from the Gagarinsky Governmental Social Centre and from an organisation helping street kids.
The camp brings children and teenagers together from very different backgrounds, helping them to increase their self-esteem, make new friends and also to learn some English, which will help them when they come to find jobs in the future. There is time for worship, ministry and teaching besides lots of fun activities, sport, puppetry and games ….if you are interested in helping in any way, why not consider joining the team in 2010?
It will give you the chance to make new friends as well as sharing in worship and teaching as you work alongside Christians linked with Moscow YFC. There is nothing like an overseas trip to give you insight into the global church, getting involved in youth work, learning about key issues which affect young people overseas and meeting challenges to enable your own faith to grow and develop! You could learn some Russian as well as teach some English! If you know some Russian already – that will really help but if not.. don’t worry there will be translators on hand.
Moscow itself is the capital and the largest city of Russia. It is also the largest metropolitan area in Europe, and ranks among the largest urban areas in the world. Moscow is a major political, economic, cultural, religious, financial, educational, and transportation centre of Russia. It is also the seventh largest city proper in the world, a megacity. The population of Moscow (as of 1 June 2009) is 10,524,400.
The Kremlin is one of the World Heritage Sites
What will I be doing?
There will be pre-trip preparation both in the UK and also when the team arrive in Russia. You will get involved in various types of ministry which may include:

Who will I go with?
You will be joining a team of 6-8 people recruited nationally in the UK. There will be 2 leaders who have had experience of working in mission teams, including overseas. You will all then join a Russian team, helping in all the activities of the camp and jumping in the deep end with regard to living in a very different and fascinating culture!
