Kick

London 2004-

Following Tom's year with Kick in Manchester he was keen to return to London.
My time with Kick dared me to dream that after a year I could continue to share my faith and coach football. I work as the Development Officer for Kick London living that dream. Here our vision is to share the good news of Jesus Christ throughout the 33 London boroughs by using football!

KevinKevin is 21 from Liverpool, he’s taking a break from finishing a degree in architecture. He felt the need to devote a year of time to God, a concentrated sacrifice. He supports Liverpool and likes to eat chocolate. He enjoys watching Scrubs and listening to Cold Play. His favourite film is Pulp Fiction.

TimTim planned to go straight to Uni after college but God had other ideas and directed him to Kick. “The year sparked a passion in my heart for evangelism, I discovered that it’s a lifestyle. I learned loads about God’s provision and the power of prayer. My belief in Christ impacts my daily life, as the spirit guides me. God challenged me throughout the year on giving up my rights and taking opportunities to witness.”
I developed a lot as a footballer and coach, this gave me confidence in my abilities. We started the Kick Academy, giving the young people the opportunity to unite faith and football
I really enjoyed going to Seattle, the week in Tewkesbury – God really got us through a hectic week, and the opportunity to go to the Shetlands.
My favourite bible verses are, 1 Peter 3 v 15 and 1 Timothy 4 v 8.
I am currently studying Accounting with Law in Norwich and also playing futsal.
I hope England can win the World Cup

MarkMark joined Kick because he wanted to do a year out that involved coaching football.
“I discovered a lot during my year, developed a deeper and more educated relationship with God. He provides in incredible ways for you when you give time up for Him.”
I made many friends and grew in confidence in myself and abilities, which set me up for starting at Uni. I am currently in Dundee studying architecture.
My favourite mission venue was Tewkesbury, Tim and I were on our own down there and it was a steep learning curve.
My favourite verse is Isaiah 40 v 31.
Without Scotland I don’t know who will win in Germany.

AlanAlan joined Kick because he felt God was telling him to take what he received from the first team, becoming a Christian, and give it back to Him. “It’s great to use the gifts I’ve been given to connect with some of the young folks here. Although I’m not finished my year yet, I really enjoyed the Birmingham mission – the young people were very open to what we shared about our faith.”
Alan is unsure what to do after his year, although he has been having a brilliant time and would consider do something similar.
My favourite verse is John 3 v 15.
I believe that Brazil will win the World Cup

FlorisFloris wanted to do something other than go to college and wanted to use his faith. He is the first Kick year out volunteer from overseas, joining us from Holland.
The year out has proved, “a great boost in my faith, changing me in a lot of ways.”
I have not finished the year yet but the highlights have been the staff conference and the Birmingham Mission, we had a lot of opportunities to play football and talk about Jesus.”
My favourite book of the Bible is James.
There is no doubt in my mind that Holland will win the World Cup, guided by the likes of Arjen Robben.
