Seattle 2005-

Seattle, the Kick team have a long standing relationship with the people at Living Hope Community Church in Lynwood, north of Seattle. Following 5 summer soccer camps, ISA-Soccercamp.org, it seemed a natural extension of the relationship to establish a team with the church.

seattle1Luke joined Kick after quite a long process. He met the Kick team a number of times as they visited Lochinver on mission. He loves his football and as a Christian was interested in how they combined faith and sport alongside working in schools. God was challenging him during this time and Luke gained some Kick experience on missions. "One thing i always wanted to do was to go over to America and get a job." He was by this time in a job but was not using his talents or fulfilling his calling. Following some time of prayer he was challenged, following a phone call telling him about a new Kick placement in Seattle, to take a step of faith and join Kick.
"We are based just outside Seattle and working around this area, we're doing youth groups, kids clubs, coaching football, assemblies and relational work.
The highlight of the year, so far, has been our staff conference in Wales, where all the volunteers came together and had a great time.
I try to look to God in all things and my favourite verse would be either Romans 8 v 28 or Ephesians 6 v 10 as a challenge to rely on His strength and not my own.
I think Brazil will win the World Cup, just look at the quality of players they have!

seattle 2Stephen - "I joined Kick because i thought it was a great way to express the gifts God has given me." I feel i am seeing this happen as well as learning new things every day and growing in my faith. God really seems to be guiding me and helping me grow in faith and knowledge through studying the Bible. I feel i have been able to relate my faith to the teenagers. I have been involved in coaching in local high schools, attending sports fixtures and working with the Salvation Army.
One of the highlights for me, so far, was getting away for a few days into the mountains and mixing with some local teenagers who get very little Christian contact.
My favourite Bible verse is 1 Timothy 4 v 8.
I want to say England will win the World Cup, but i don't think it will happen, Brazil are so talented - Ronaldinho is the best in the world. I like Kaka, he has devoted all of his ability and skillls to honour God.
