Youth for Christ

Prayer Points (March - July 2010)

1st - 6th March - As Youth for Christ Centres up and down the country take the Good News to young people in relevant ways, they rely on God's provision and guidance.  Please pray that YFC workers would have clear direction from the Lord and that more young people would hear the Gospel as YFC Centres open in new areas.

7th - 13th March - Our yfc one mid-year retreat is taking place this week.  It will be a great time for fellowship, relaxation and refreshment for YFC volunteers who serve in Local Centres and in mission teams.  Pray for each of them, that God would give them a fresh sense of His presence with them and that they would return inspired and re-envisioned for the task of taking the Good News relevantly.

14th - 20th March - Sports and Creative Arts Teams use perhaps some of the most exciting methods to bring the Gospel to young people.  Please pray for energy as they engage with young people, protection as they travel the country, creativity in their work and clarity as they communicate Jesus' love through sport and the arts.

21^st – 27^th March – Please pray for YFC staff who raise a proportion of their salaries, that they would see the provision of the Lord for the work they do to take the Good News relevantly.  Also for personal supporters that they would feel part of YFC and that God would mightily bless them. 

28^th March – 3^rd April – Our Income Development Team work to find new areas of funding to enable YFC’s vital work with young people to continue.  Please pray for them that they would be led by the Lord as they go about their task and would be granted wisdom from God as they work.  

4^th – 10^th April – This Easter, pray that young people would hear the Good News of Jesus in a way relevant to them and that young Christians would share their faith with their friends.  We long to see young people encounter Jesus and be transformed by the Gospel and at this time of year there will be many opportunities to engage young people with the message of Jesus.

11^th – 17^th April – The YFC admin teams across the country enable more young people to hear the Good News through the support they provide to all of those directly involved in mission.  Please pray for these faithful workers who are not always seen but are driven by the deep desire to reach young people with the Gospel.  Pray that they would be encouraged in their roles and would feel the presence of the Lord with them as they work.

18^th – 24^th April – Pray for the continued impact of all of our 11-18s discipleship resources such as Youth Alpha, Freedom in Christ and exploRE as they are used through YFC Centres, local churches and schools.  Our heart is that young people will be impacted by the Gospel, bought on in their walks with the Lord and encouraged in faith through these resources. 

25^th April – 1^st May – Church leaders who recognize the potential of young Christians as evangelists in their congregations, that they would provide opportunities for more young people to step into and develop their giftings.  The need for encouragement for such young people cannot be overstated so pray that leaders would help them in their calling.

2^nd – 8^th May – YFC workers and volunteers both at Head Office and Local Centres up and down the country.  Please pray that God would continue to bring the right people to work with YFC and that current staff and volunteers would be supported and trained to enable them to really flourish in their work for the Lord.

9^th – 15^th May – Fort Rocky weekends begin.  These evangelistic outdoor activity weekends are full of fun, friends and the chance to hear about Jesus.  Every weekend young people are given the opportunity to respond to a Gospel message and so pray that many will be changed as they hear the Good News and surrender their lives to Christ.

16^th – 22^nd May – Pray for our Local Ministries team headed by Richard Bromley.  Liz Etherton and Catherin Green also work with the YFC Centres up and down the country.  These people seek to provide support, encouragement and help to the local expressions of Youth for Christ in taking the Good News relevantly. 

23^rd – 29^th May – Please hold up in prayer our National Director, Galvin Calver.  That he will know God’s guidance and wisdom as he oversees the work of British Youth for Christ and also for his wife Anne and young family as he leads YFC. 

30^th May – 5^th June – Overseas work – Please pray that the work will grow and that many young people will get the chance to do long or short term mission work in another culture.  Trips take place over the summer and give people the opportunity to step out and make a difference, sharing the love of Jesus in another country.

6^th – 12^th June – Pray that God would bless the work of YFC in Wales.  For those involved in Youthwork, that they would see God at work and for further opportunities for YFC to work in Wales.  Pray for Llandudno YFC that the staff would see God do amazing things as they engage with young people.

20^th – 26^th June – The Church and Schools Resources team – pray for them as they provide youth workers up and down the UK with a wide range of evangelistic and discipleship resources, as well as supporting our IMPACT Holidays and exciting residentials.  YFC Resources equip and enable the local church to engage with young people and so make up an integral part of what we do.

27^th June – 3^rd July – Pray for Christian Unions which meet regularly in UK educational establishments – that they would flourish as they reach out to fellow students with the Gospel and that they would see real growth as their peers surrender their lives to Christ.
