Youth for Christ

For over 50 years YFC has been partnering with schools to deliver high quality lessons that support the holistic development of young people. YFC resources are primarily aimed at the secondary age range (although some assemblies and lessons are tailored to a younger age group), and are designed for use by both teachers and church-based workers serving their local schools. 

 

Over the past year, YFC has launched two exciting schools resources – exploRE and the Crux - which are now in use in hundreds of schools across the country. 

explorRE is a 12-week programme of study which has been devised for use with students aged 11 to 14 in RE lessons. Its easy-to-use lesson plans make it an ideal resource for teachers, youth workers and church workers seeking to engage with their local school. The resource has been created by experienced teaching professionals, its approach reflecting guidelines outlined in the non-statutory programme of study for RE in England (2007) and the principles found in Scotland’s Curriculum for Excellence (2006).  For more information please visit www.exploreforschools.co.uk

The Crux is Youth for Christ’s groundbreaking Extended Schools Resource. The Crux is designed to be run in secondary schools by local volunteers or teaching professionals as part of the Government’s Extended Schools initiative – but can be easily adapted for a younger or older age range. Since its launch in November 2007, The Crux is now running in over 100 schools nationally and engaging contact with 2500 young people.  Each terms resource consists of 60 interactive sessions with a clear Christian perspective spread over five key strands, effectively providing an innovative programme for every day of the school year .  For more information please visit www.thecrux.co.uk

We have produced a website dedicated to providing high quality assemblies and lesson plans for use in schools.  New material is added each week and users can submit their own resources to share with others.  A diverse range of themes are covered, and key times of year will be met with relevant resources – such as Easter, Valentines Day, Christmas, Fathers Day and so on.  Regular educational updates are also added providing users with up to date information and legislation for all things school related.  For more information please visit www.yfcschoolsresources.co.uk
